Required Rotation Assignments

Check out the grading rubric to see how you will be assessed during this rotation. Final grades will be a compilation of this rubric and professionalism.

Complete one module and quiz each week. Modules names and passwords are provided in the introductory email sent to you before rotation. All quizzes must be completed by last day of rotation.

Choose a recent (published in 2017 or later) article from a veterinary pharmacy journal to evaluate and present, and confirm article choice with residents.

Once approved, your article and handout should be uploaded into DropBox 24 hours prior to your scheduled presentation. Use this form as a guide to create a one page front and back handout. Use the linked rubric as a reference.

Pick any veterinary pharmacy topic (broad or narrow) that interests you to present to the other pharmacy students, residents, and staff. Presentation topic must be approved by one of the residents. The presentation should last between 25 - 30 minutes with 5 - 10 minutes for discussion/questions. Include a handout, up to 4 pages, to supplement your presentation.

Upload your presentation and handout to Dropbox at least 24 hours before your presentation time. Use the linked rubric as a reference.

You are required to observe a minimum of three non-sterile compounds while on rotation, and it is YOUR responsibility to inquire about compounding while on rotation. These are informal and can be done by asking one of the technicians/residents, and by checking the compounding whiteboard in the pharmacy.

You will be assigned a patient case to follow each week. You will be given an EzyVet login and be responsible for working up your patient each day (Monday - Friday). Notes and recommendations should be documented in an abbreviated SOAP note format that will be updated daily based on the patient’s condition. Documents should be uploaded to your Dropbox by Friday at 1pm. Cases will be reviewed with the preceptor(s) each afternoon.

Use this document and example as a guide to develop your SOAP note each day.
